Active Leaders, Junior Active Leaders, Trainer Accreditation

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

The Active Leader and Trainer Accreditation courses carry 10 CPD (continued professional development) points.

Courses take place all year round, led by experienced trainers. The Trainer Accreditation courses can be delivered via Zoom.

All our courses are quality assured and endorsed by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity at their highest ‘enhancing’ level.

Active Leaders

Aimed at young people in Year 10 upwards and adaptable for younger age groups

The course includes CPR and first aid awareness, basic safeguarding and risk management, preparation, planning, communication, marketing, budgeting, hands-on delivery and CV development.

Each trainee receives a printed course manual, games booklet and a t-shirt. At the end of the course each Active Leader receives a personal reference, the Active Leader Award certificate with 10 CPD points, and a pin badge.

Active Leader courses support enrichment, personal development, academic course leadership modules and the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

 

 

Sessions aim to be 70% practical with an emphasis on fun, teamwork, problem solving and interactive engagement. The course takes 25 hours and each trainee progresses individually. Trainers provide encouragement, supervision and feedback.

The course can be adapted for those in further education, training and apprenticeships, be themed to specific sports, focus on social action, and can link to volunteering and work experience.

Junior Active Leaders

Aimed at primary school children in Years 5 and 6. It develops activity ambassadors and independent, confident, responsible role models.

The Junior Active Leader course creates a happy, active ethos for the whole school and a sustainable programme where Junior Active Leaders lead playground games with minimal supervision.

Sessions are 70% practical, centred round playing and creating simple games and leading sessions for younger pupils. There is an emphasis on teamwork, taking responsibility and developing self confidence. The course lasts 20 hours and each trainee progresses individually.

Each pupil receives a printed workbook, games booklet and a t-shirt. At the end of the course each Junior Active Leader receives the Junior Active Leader Award certificate and a pin badge.

TRAINER ACCREDITATION

Active Leader and Junior Active Leader Trainers are qualified, experienced professionals, with their backgrounds spanning teaching, coaching, leadership training, sport, activity camp management and working with young people. Pre-Accreditation requirements and experience are listed here

All those wishing to become accredited Active Leader and/or Junior Active Leader Trainers must evidence past experience, hold a current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate and an up to date first aid qualification.

Trainer Accreditation courses can be delivered in person or via Zoom.The course takes approximately 3 hours depending on experience and content required.

Each accredited trainer receives a Trainer Manual, session plans, slides to support course delivery and at the end of the accreditation course is required to sign an Accreditation Letter and will receive 10 CIMSPA CPD points.
